Telling Time

The way we understand time is through systems like the calendar and measurements like minutes. These systems are absolute, yet daily, with phrases like ‘the time flew’, we make reference to our own internal clocks. An individual sense of time.

Through collected essays, studies, and conversations, Telling Time is a publication that explores how we perceive the passing of time. Central to our perception of time is memory. Memory makes us who we are and often defines how we see the world. So alongside themes of age, identity, and work, the book contains personal photographs and stories from people at different stages of life.

Coptic bound by hand over 4 hours and 23 minutes. In 2025, this publication was recognized for its typographic achievement by the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) under the brief of milestones.
